What is Horses and Hula Hoops?

This event is hosted in partnership with Camp Dream to provide the experience of a day at Summer Camp to local communities. This free event features activities and games for persons with moderate to severe physical and mental disabilities, as well as their families. It is especially ideal for those parents who aren't quite ready to let their little ones go off on their own.

What is Camp Dream?

Camp Dream is an overnight summer camp that offers recreation and activities for persons with disabilities. They have no age limit when it comes to their camp so they can reach as many people as possible. The Horses and Hula Hoops event is one of Camp Dream’s many “Camp Out” programs held across the state.

How do I sign up to attend?

Horses and Hula Hoops is held annually during the Summer. Though it is a free event, it does require registration. Event dates will be announced on the website, Facebook, and Instagram.
We want to reach out and let our special needs community in Milledgeville, as well as other communities around Milledgeville, know that there's availability here. We want to let them know that if you're a parent or caregiver who needs a reprieve, then Camp Dream is here for you.
-Julia Little, Milledgeville Jaycees President

All donations made to the Milledgeville Jaycees are put to use in the local Milledgeville and Baldwin County community. A few of the ways we spend our funds include:
  • Matching other donations for a specific cause (ie, restocking Cafe Central Soup Kitchen after Hurricane Irma)
  • Purchasing needed items for a local drive (ie, Baldwin County School Supply Drive)
  • Sponsoring children for Camp Dream
One of our favorite events is Thanksgiving Back, where we purchase around 100 duffel bags for children going into the local foster care system and fill each one with a coloring book, crayons, teddy bear, blanket, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Though some items are donated, we usually spend around $2,000 assembling the bags.

If you would like to learn more about how we give back to Milledgeville, please contact us.
