Community Events

The Milledgeville Jaycees regularly participate in the monthly First Friday events held in Downtown Milledgeville. A few of our favorite First Friday themes include: Hometown Celebration, Beach Bash, and Touch a Truck.

Lockerly Arboretum hosts an annual Family Fun day in October that features "Scarecrows in the Arboretum" from local schools and organizations. The Jaycees often volunteer to cook food for the event.

Over the last couple of years, the Milledgeville Jaycees have become involved with the annual Lake Sinclair Pirate Parade. We have had the opportunity to provide hotdogs and hamburgers for the many pirates who make landfall at Little River Park.

All donations made to the Milledgeville Jaycees are put to use in the local Milledgeville and Baldwin County community. A few of the ways we spend our funds include:

Matching other donations for a specific cause (ie, restocking Cafe Central Soup Kitchen after Hurricane Irma)
Purchasing needed items for a local drive (ie, Baldwin County School Supply Drive)
Sponsoring children for Camp Dream

One of our favorite events is Thanksgiving Back, where we purchase around 100 duffel bags for children going into the local foster care system and fill each one with a coloring book, crayons, teddy bear, blanket, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Though some items are donated, we usually spend around $2,000 assembling the bags.
